high school headache

I don’t think there was a day in high school that I didn’t have Advil in my bookbag or in my car.

13WHAM-TV || Rochester - Students Suspended For Possessing/Taking Advil
“Half the school has Advil in their locker or purse, and it’s not right to suspend them when a bunch of other people are doing it, too,” she said.

It is such a pain to even go to the nurse, because the nurse cannot give you headache meds either.  It used to be that your parents could send a bottle in with a form that said how many you were allowed to take etc.  I think  either when I was in 11th or 12th grade they changed that rule as well.  The school nurse could no longer have any drugs for students unless there was a doctor’s note.  This included Advil, cough drops (don’t even get me started on how you could be suspended for having a cough drop).  So basically there was no possible way to legitimately get a headache cure or something to sooth your throat so everyone just carried stuff with them.

I bet we were one of the few families that tried to make it legit when you still could and actually brought bottles to school with the form when you still could.  There were three bottles in the nurse’s cabinet, one for each of us.
