food as of late
I just made some Tomato soup for dinner, added some basel and oregano to spice it up a bit. Also made a grilled cheese sandwich to go with it (and put croutons in the soup).
This morning was the cooking feat of the day though
I normally make french toast for breakfast on the weekend
- 4-6 Pieces of whole wheat bread
- 3-4 eggs
- bunch of cinnamon
- splash of milk
Dip, flip, pan, flip, eat; simple enough
but yesterday at Weggies strawberries were 2 things for 3 bucks so I bought 2 “things” and blueberries were 2.50 for a tiny amount, but I bought some anyway. So this morninng I cut up some strawberries, added some blueberries and some frozen cranberries, and put it all in a small sauce pan with some maple syrup, the real stuff, not the sugared down crap.
brought it to a boil for a while, the juice from the berries made it a bit runny, but it was perfect. The cranberries became candied, unlike their normally bitter selves, the blueberries kinda just mushed up a bit, and the strawberries because semi-transparent. The sauce became a nice purpleish red color and I let it cool for a bit. Spoon on top of french toast and Wha-La!
also…
I know some of you don’t eat meat, but for those who do, I bought some pork tenderloin steaks and was looking for good / interesting ways to cook them. A friend recommended stuffing them, and so far that sounds like an excellent plan, but I am open to suggestions as to what to stuff them with, or other cooking methods.
