kitchen extravaganza

We went to the outlets in Waterloo this weekend because my roommate’s girlfriend came to visit from CT and I wanted to go too.  I got a pair of pants and a polo at GAP, but more importantly, I got lots of fun kitchen stuff

Brian bought me one of these:

Misto Gift Box at Le Gourmet Chef’s Cooks Tools Section
The Gourmet Olive Oil Sprayer! Great for low fat cooking. Specially designed to use less oil while coating foods or pans

which I have always wanted, and it is great.  Unfortunately, just like it says on the box, now I want more because I could use it for so many things!

he also bought me a new polypropylene cutting board because my cheapo wood one, while its still nice, was warping like crazy.  It is also so nice to be able to just put the cutting board in the dishwasher.

the last thing he got me was something I have wanted for the longest time (since i learned of their existence at my best friend’s house back home).  A pizza stone!

I cooked a pizza on it today, but our lunch pizzas were probably not the best to start out with because we buy a pre-baked whole wheat crust and just add sauce (added last night’s jalapeño chicken spaghetti sauce) and some freshly grated mozzarella cheese and pop it in for like 14 minutes.  this wasn’t even enough time for the stone to fully heat, which mean the bottom of the pizza was really soft.

Anyway

oil sprayer = GREAT

new, non-warped cutting board = GREAT!

pizza stone = GREAT!!!

(i am “seasoning” it now, don’t tell me i shouldn’t, i don’t wanna hear about it)

  • Who says you shouldn’t season it? Seasoning it is what makes it good!

  • exactly!
    otherwise everything sticks like woah
(we are talking about seasoning being where you add a little oil and bake it in the oven, like you would cast iron?)
