Joe. My. God. has reposted and linked to some memories of friends who have died of AIDS.

I run the FightsAIDS@Home project on the World Community Grid.  World Community Grid - Research - FightAIDS@Home.  I think it is disappointing to see how many people run SETI when they could be trying to fight AIDS or cancer, or something that could help people in the here and now.

Running FA@H on your computer 24×7 might use $30 worth of additional electricity a year (rough estimates with a kill-a-watt) but could help with a major breakthrough.

It can be set to only run when you aren’t using the computer, or to run all time.  I run it all the time since I have lots of RAM, and it never interferes with my computing.
