Recommendations

If Light bulbs were Automobiles, you’d be driving a Compact Fluorescent.
I recommend counting all of the regular (incandescent) light bulbs in your house and immediately buying new replacement CFL bulbs for all of them. Then I recommend unscrewing the old bulbs and throwing them away. I recommend doing it right now.

I agree with Rob’s recommendations.   I got my parents as well as my aunts/uncles each a 6 pack of CFL lights for Christmas.  Sure, they are $10, but its a $10 gift that they can actually use, and will use every day for quite some time.  $10 worth of random other crap? not going to save them money.  $10 worth of random other crap? probably not good for the environment.

Once your house is all CFL, start giving them as gifts, people will love them.  My dad installed like 4 of his 6 on Christmas day alone.

My brother even has these little like 4 or 7 watt ones from Ikea that are so cute and tiny in the lamps on his mantle.

Buy your CFL’s in 6 packs, they usually run ~$10 for the 13w (60w equivalent) to $15 for the 26w - 100w equiv.

Get a 6 pack of each and start replacing bulbs today!
