Dark Chocolate Frosting

Chocolate Frosting II Recipe | Chocolate Frosting and Icing Recipes @ CDKitchen.com :: it’s what’s cooking online!
1/6 cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup Cocoa powder
1/8 cup milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
extra milk if needed

We used Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa for the frosting, and mmm it was delicious.

We ended up adding probably 5-6 teaspoons of extra milk to get the texture of frosting we wanted.  That makes it almost 1/4 cup milk in the frosting.

This on top of a still slightly warm Better Crocker Triple Chocolate Fudge cake.  The frosting was the same super dark color as the cake, and was delicious.  I powdered the top of the cake with more dark cocoa, which I am not sure was needed but it was fun.

We decided to make our own frosting because store bought frosting has 2 grams trans fat PER SERVING of 2tbsp (and 2.5g per serving for the “less sugar” frostings).  You are only supposed to have like 0.5 grams trans fat a day.  The cake still has trans fat in it, so quadrupling the amount by added frosting is a no-go.

Neither kevin or I had made frosting before, but it was easy and definitely turned out great so we will be doing it again.

If there is any cake left by the time I get home from work, I might take a picture.
