Cold, Damn Cold

Tin Foil Soldier

partly cloudy
Temp: 19°F
Wind Chill: 9°F
Humidity: 73%
Wind: SW at 8 mph
Clouds: partly cloudy

It was finally “cold” this morning.  I judge cold by the fact that my snot freezes when I breathe in through my nose.  Its isn’t super cold, because it thawed out quickly, but I could still feel it stiffen and freeze.

My car is covered in ice on the underparts, and it makes funny vibrations because of it.  There is ice on the inside of the wheel rims that make the car shake because of the uneven distribution.  There is also ice on the suspension itself that I can see when I look in the wheel wells.  It also still makes funny sounds when turning, so the steering mechanism are probably covered in ice as well.

I’m not really sure what to do about it though… Do I just drive anyway? I mean, I let the engine warm up and everything, but no amount of warm oil and coolant is going to melt the ice on the suspension.  If I drive long enough, the brakes will heat up and eventually melt the ice on the wheels, but when its so cold out that even takes a while.

I want it to stay cold so I can enjoy the snow, but I want it to warm up so I can get all the ice off my car and wash the salt off.
