Verizon, our continuing Overlords
Great Wireless Auction: Verizon, Not Google Is The Big Wireless Spectrum Winner
Choke back the tears, kids—Verizon, not Google won the majority of the wireless spectrum actioned off by the FCC.
Verizon, not Google is big winner in spectrum auction - East Bay Business Times:
On Thursday the agency said six big licenses went to Verizon — which is owned jointly by Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC — for next-generation wireless broadband service.Satellite television provider Echostar Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: DISH) also won enough to give it a nearly nationwide license.
Mountain View-based Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) did not win any licenses.
At least the biding went high enough that there will be “open network” regulations on the spectrum.
I’m not really sure what this will mean. Just that I don’t like Verizon (not that I like ATT that much better)
