Power Outage
We had a power outage @ RIT yesterday. RG&E somehow messed up and 22 buildings on campus went dark, then lit up, then went dark again.
Fortunately we have a 2 hour UPS for the servers, and the generator kicked in ASAP and kept the network gear alive so aside from being pitch black, we stayed up and running.
So far 3 systems have died due to the power surge. In fact, I broke a nail trying to get the power supply out of the last one so I could replace it. We also have what I am hoping is a circuit breaker trip. Otherwise it means 10 monitors and 10 computers died as well.
