I always here people moaning about how awful Vista is.  What are their complaints?

“It’s too slow” which is a stupid complaint, because does OSX run on a G3? no!  Vista wont run on old super old hardware either

UAC is annoying (User Account Control). Well so is the damn OSX pop up about putting your password in.  I was installing some software and updates on a mac yesterday (leopard and tiger) and it was constantly asking me for the password.  Sometimes I even had 2 password prompts up at the same time, because heaven forbid I install software and then apply patches to it.

Speaking of patches.  OSX doesn’t apply patches automatically, no matter how critical or trivial.  OSX users are generally, well, not computer savvy, so I think that if anything, they should have patches installed without even telling them patches exist; it would just be easier for everyone.  Vista, on the other hand, I can tell it that I want to stay up to date, and it will automatically download and install patches.  Hell, it even remembers what programs were open when I come back in the morning after a reboot (granted, OSX remembers what you had open as well, but it wont patch automatically so it gets NO POINTS)

And I don’t know what all the hoopla is about with needing to reboot Windows all the time, I had to reboot each of the macs I was working on at least twice to get everything installed and running.

Bottom line?

If you bought your computer new in the past 2-3 years, hell, 4-5 years, you will be able to run Vista just fine.  Perhaps you could use a 20$ stick of RAM to speed things up, but other than that, quit your Vista bashin until you have actually tried it.
