Also, Pennsylvania state police said Thomas Howard Wambold’s tractor-trailer has a split-axle trailer with a modified air system that can lift the axles over toll indicators, with mufflers that can prevent toll collectors from hearing the axles being raised.
First of all, the axle raising thing is pretty bad ass. Secondly, how the hell did he get away with using a stolen EZ pass for that long. Even if the pass wasn’t reported stolen I think they shoulda noticed an account with 575,980$ worth of unpaid tolls. Can’t the EZ-Pass system look up an account in a database as it reads tags to see if they should be approved or not?
Unfortunately the EZ pass system is probably like the systems that get posted to The Daily WTF
