Westcott Beach State Park

I spent Wed eventhing through Saturday camping with my roommate’s family at Westcott Beach State Park.

We went to Henderson for a beer at what they call “the bakery” which is really just an awesome bar / brewery that I simply don’t know the name of. Back to the campsite where I started reading Snow Crash.

Later we went out on the boat and saw Henderson from the water instead of land. Cruised around some more and then back to the campsite for a dinner of fresh caught perch fillets, breaded and deep fried.  The fillets are so light and crispy, with hardly any grease even though they were deep fried.

Friday we went to Alexandria Bay and the St. Lawrence Seaway where we went on a boat tour of some millionaire homes, like the house of the founders of Macy’s, or the guy who apparently cornered the market on dual hinge nutcrackers.

Saturday morning we packed up early and headed home. It rained a little bit Friday night / Saturday morning, but fortunately most of the storm was north of us so packing wasn’t a giant wet mess.

Back on campus we BBQ’d on Saturday, made burgers, hotdogs, brauts and corn.  Definately delicious

  • The “bakery” is in Sackets Harbor and it is Sackets Harbor Brewing Company made [locally] famous by their 1812 Ale.
