Joe. My. God.: WordPerfect Founder Bruce Bastian Pledges $1M To Fight Prop 8
Utah resident and WordPerfect cofounder Bruce Bastian has pledged $1M to fight California’s Proposition 8 as out-of-state money continues to roll in on both sides of the issue.
I guess I am just kinda confused about how throwing money at it will really make people vote no on Prop 8 differently. I hope that the money gets to the right places and shows enough people the truth.
What I do understand is making sure that the wording on the ballet lets people know that they are voting to REMOVE a RIGHT that people already have.
News: Marriage Language… - Towleroad
California marriage ballot measure language changed: “Proposition 8 on the November ballot had been described as a measure to limit marriage between a man and a woman. But the Secretary of State’s office says that description was changed to reflect a May 15 California Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage. The ballot title and summary now describe the initiative as a constitutional change to eliminate the right of same sex couples to marry.
Guess what, now the crazy coalitions are upset and suing because the wording could “prejudice voters against the initiative.” If people know that they are voting to take away an existing right, they will realize that voting yes for Prop 8 is a bad thing to do.
A bunch of other people have donated in opposition to Proposition 8 as well, the police chief of LAPD, a tennis star, and an actor who previously insulted a gay man.
What can you do? Well if you are my friend and live in CA, you better be voting No on Proposition 8. I don’t care if you weren’t planning on voting, thats just silly anyway.
