SWAT team raids mayor, shoots family dog
SWAT team raids mayor, shoots family dog because someone mailed them pot - Boing Boing
Cheye Calvo, mayor of DC suburb Berwyn Heights, was raided by a SWAT team after 30lbs of marijuana was delivered to his home. They broke down his door, shot his two black labradors, and interrogated him and his wife as their dogs bled to death.Turns out Calvo says he had no idea about the package, which was still outside, unopened and perhaps waiting for its real recipient to pick it up.
And he’s the FREAKIN MAYOR. Imagine how screwed you would be if it was your house. They probably would have just shot the person and blamed the corpse for the drugs.
Not that Mayors don’t do drugs, but they broke all kinds of rules with this raid, and probably wont get punished for it. I remember reading something recently where a family was raided in the middle of the night, so the father tried to defended his family and home with a shotgun. The swat team was had bulletproof vests on and was uninjured. The officers returned fire, riddling the house with bullet holes. Fortunately no one was injured.
What did the police decide was the best thing to do after this fiasco? Recognize the SWAT team with medals and commendations of course! Needless to say the family was not happy about this, even if they did wait 7 months after the botched raid to award the SWAT team.
Just because you aren’t doing anything wrong does not mean that you should EVER let someone infringe on your rights. Take a stand, refuse to show ID for a credit card transaction, do something, anything, to let people know that you will not be walked over in the name of “security.”
