Back in the Groove

I am still working on getting back in the groove of things but I am pretty much all better.

Basically this is how it happened:

Tuesday I went to the doctor(20$ co-pay) because my foot hurt and I wanted to make sure I didn’t break it.  She sent me for an x-ray (25$) and told me to take 3 ibuprofen in the morning and 3 at night.

Next day I took 4 motrin because my arm kinda hurt too, and its only 800mg total.  We lifted weights at lunch, then I went back to my office to eat there.  After eating my arm started to hurt ALOT and my stomach felt like heartburn or something (never had heartburn before, not sure what it feels like).  So I took more ibuprofen to reduce the swelling in my arm or something.  It seemed to help because in a little while I felt better, continued doing my thing @ work.

That night Kev and I went to see Iron Man at the cheap theater.  It was a badass movie, but I my shoulder started to hurt again towards the end.  We stopped at wegmans on the way home for more ice cream, but I couldn’t walk the store, I had to sit down in the middle of the isle while Kev shopped quick because it hurt so bad.  Then I was okay for a little.  Went home, where I called my mommy to tell me what to do.  It felt like a pinched nerve in my shoulder so she had me do some stretches that seemed to help.  Hot pad and ice pack through the night, the ice didn’t seem to dull the pain but the heat did.

Next morning I e-mailed in sick, staying in bed with ice and heat.  11 rolls around and I still feel awful, so I txt’d kevin and asked him to take me to the hospital.

@ noon we get to the hospital and I am triage’d while kevin parks.  Waiting room until 3pm, I get a room, then a chest x-ray.  When they get the x-ray back people start talking about me and coming to see me, alot.  Apparently there was LOTS of free air in my stomach cavity.  And this confused them, because normally when there is that much air people are puking and in massive amounts of pain.  I was just kinda hangin out and in a bit of pain.  They weren’t sure if they were gonna surgery me, so I was rushed to the Trauma ward and got a nasal-gastro tube up my nose by a cute nurse named Keith.  I remember his name because he said its gonna hurt and he wanted me to at least know his name before he shoved a lubed tube up my nose and into my stomach.

They decided to hold off on the surgery and put me back in the ER so I could get a CT scan.  A nurse was supposed to put 180cc or something of contrast up my NG tube every 10 minutes (because I couldn’t swallow with it blocking my epiglottis) except he kept forgetting about me.  I got 1 of the 2 bottles I was supposed to have by the time the hour and a half was up and I went to my CT scan at about midnight with only half the contrast in me.  They did the CT anyway, which hurt alot because I had to move from my bed to the CT bed and back when they were done.

Back to my room in the ER, then they sent me to Observation and once I was situated Kevin went home and I passed out.

more later, gotta go to the DMV to get my motorcycle license.
