Sick
I should make a new category, Illnesses, because it seems like I am falling apart. I have a sinus infection plus I had a fever yesterday and night sweats, i had to change my pillow cause it was soaked last night.
Life has kinda been crazy since I got out of the hospital, so I haven’t had time to write about it.
So @ the hospital, in Observation.
I spend the day in the “observation floor” or whatever and I was not allowed to drink anything because I still had the tube going up my nose and it was blocking my epiglottis. They admitted me, and it was Friday I think, so Kevin was at work most of the day before he came in. I was tired and out of it. They woke me up @ midnight to take my vitals, @ 4am to take my blood, @6am to give me drugs, and @8 to take my vitals. I think I mostly just watched TV and tried to block the sound the tube up my nose was making, and not looking at the disgusting goo they were sucking out of my stomach via my nose.
I might have spent another night there, or not, it was all kinda a drug induced blur. Eventually I moved up to my final destination on the 6th floor trauma /critical care ward.
Saturday they took the tube out of my nose. It was so much better. This also meant that I could actually use the toilet, because my IV stand could go into the bathroom with me, but the nose suction tube couldn’t because it was attached to the vacuum line in the room. Which, btw, is awesome. They have pipes just in the walls everywhere for oxygen, regular air under pressure, and a huge line just to provide suction. It takes a stronger tube to hold a vacuum that it does to hold a high pressure gas like oxygen, but damn, the vacuum piping was at least 3 times the size of the O2 piping.
Anyway, they took the tube out. In my permanent room I had to pay for TV, 7 dollars a day for phone and TV service, combined. I needed it so I put it on my mastercard, I didn’t try to put it on my beneflex card for medical expenses, but I wonder if it would have worked.
After they removed the tube I eventually got to try clears, but they upset my stomach so they cut me off again. I guess I got to eat clears Saturday night and Sunday morning, but then I was back to my sugar water IV. There were plenty of days of watching TV and reading The Chronicles of Narnia that Kevin brought me, along with my cellphone charger to keep me connected.
