Water Filter

Enjoy filtered water at your sink with the Kenmore Elite Advanced 2-Stage Drinking Water Filter. The system reduces lead, cysts, MTBE, VOC’s, chlorine taste and odor, and sediment. The convenient ‘twist and pull’ encapsulated filter design makes filter changes easy, fast, and sanitary. Exclusive ‘no-mount’ space saving-design allows for system placement vertically or horizontally to fit easily under the sink. The stylish faucet with electronic indicator light provides automatic notification when the filters need to be changed.

First of all, ugh, I once again lost a huge post because WP errored out.

Anyway.

We bought a water filter for the sink, we used to have a pur @ the old place the but new sink doesn’t really allow for that type of faucet so we got a new awesome pull out faucet.  They only had one in stock and the box was badly damaged so we asked for a discount, and got a really nice one.  Consumer whores wouldn’t have bought it so it worked out well for everyone involved.

Then came the era of the big brita filter sitting on the counter (fridge is damn full).  This works mostly well because it was easy to fill, but it took up a ton of space and it would get algae in it every now and then (probably because it sat ontop of the dishwasher).

So, reverse osmosis is supposed to be the best kind of filtration, so we looked into it.  RO has a dark secret.  For every 1 gallon of water it filters for you, it puts 4+ gallons of water down the drain.  Not even remotely efficient.

So after reading the Consumer Reports and website reviews, combined with a grain of salt to filter out stupid people (haha filter), we ended up with the Kenmore Elite under the sink filter.

We planned on putting the little faucet it comes with in the rear left corner of the sink but the faucet has a huge base and didn’t fit (plus it is made of plastic and chromed, our sink is satin finish).  We ended up getting this water faucet from lowes.

It took a bit of work, but now we have nice cool filtered water “on tap” along with our current selection of Red Wing Ale in the basement
