apparently I have been doing real work related things @ work, and haven’t been posting as much lately, because the main page of my blog is rather short.

somehow I ended up with posts “having comments” when they really don’t
It is probably because of some sort of spam filtering, but who knows.  I can fix them manually in the database but thats a pain, so for now I am only fixing the ones that I see are wrong

Apparently I broke PHP, so I had to rebuild it, and ap-php and php-mysql
but now everything should be back up and running 

Tin Foil Soldier was hanging because I had a “what am i listeing to” type section pulling information for last.fm
Apparently last.fm’s servers went down, and since my page was pulling data from them and rendering it in php before the page gets sent to the browser it was just hanging waiting for a response from [...]

I was trying to update all the pkgs i have on my system, so i randomly picked one that seemed innocous to start with, and it ended up needing to rebuild perl, which ended up rebuilding apache, and mysql and JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER PKG.
as long as I dont stop apache [...]

finally!
i had built the php5 stuff yesterday i think, but since the old version was still loaded into memory with apache, it all worked
the entire webserver was down for a while because it kept crashing whenever I tried to go to a page [...]

hmm, it seems to sorta suck as an upgrade option. all of my “titles” and such were moved to “summary”, I guess i could have kept them where they were, but because a bunch of them were too long and kept getting truncated, they were lost
