Technical Difficulties

I am still at work, to say we experienced “technical difficulties” would be putting it lightly.
Hopefully business as usual tomorrow

Ants

Right before I left my office I noticed that the floor was covered in ants.  The carpet was alive with the tiny little fuckers, eating out of our trash can apparently.  Streams of them were going in and out, eating who knows what since its emptied daily.
I did what I did last time I saw [...]

Microsoft User

I taught a session today on using Outlook rules to sort your e-mail. I use them extensively to put mail in folders in both my personal and work accounts.
Later people said they used Outlook Express, Apple Mail, OWA, Thunderbird, etc. I sometimes feel bad that I am a nerd that finds Microsoft products [...]

da Internets

The datacenter at RIT went dark today. A complete power loss. We are still in the midsts of it, but even with the off site DNS servers, they can’t really handle the load of everyone switching to them at once.
People lost it when their internet stopped working because with the domain controllers down [...]

Worthless Math

I am back in Rochester now, but I wish I was at home still, or could teleport there at will
I have a math final tonight @ 6, and I am having a hard time studying. I just don’t care, at all. I do how I do, and since I know enough [...]

Wedding

Today is my brother’s wedding.
His fiancé started crying at the rehearsal dinner and I was all “awww”
The ceremony is at 2pm and at some point after that I have to give a best man speech. I pretend to be confident and outgoing, but I am totally nervous. And I’m not supposed to drink [...]

PA for the weekend

I went to PA for the weekend.  Kevin and I had waffles Friday morning, then I got around to leaving at 11ish.  The drive home was mostly uneventful, there was light rain almost the whole way.
About a mile north of PA traffic came to a sudden halt.  We sat there for a while; I even [...]

Tea Exchange

The REPUBLIC of TEA - Exquisite Green Tea, Red Tea, White Tea, Black Tea, Oolong Tea and More.
This China green tea is luscious with the naturally sweet flavor of ripe pears and tropical tang of kiwi. A highly aromatic, healthy blend that’s refreshing on ice.

I drink a cup of coffee in the morning, and then [...]

Power Outage

We had a power outage @ RIT yesterday.  RG&E somehow messed up and 22 buildings on campus went dark, then lit up, then went dark again.
Fortunately we have a 2 hour UPS for the servers, and the generator kicked in ASAP and kept the network gear alive so aside from being pitch black, we stayed [...]

Cold, Damn Cold

Tin Foil Soldier
Rochester, NY

Temp: 19°F
Wind Chill: 9°F
Humidity: 73%
Wind: SW at 8 mph
Clouds: partly cloudy
It was finally “cold” this morning.  I judge cold by the fact that my snot freezes when I breathe in through my nose.  Its isn’t super cold, because it thawed out quickly, but I could still feel it stiffen and freeze.
My car [...]

Queen Sized

I bought a Queen sized bed at Sam’s club last night(2 nights ago, I accidentally wrote this without posting it).
A friend with a truck helped me get it home and into the living room but my roommate and I said we would finish getting it to my room upstairs.  The box spring definitely did not [...]
